about

The three movements reflect the archetypal journey presented in the hero myth found in stories throughout the world. First, the hero heeds the call to adventure, setting forth on the road of discovery. Second, the hero goes through trials and tests, until finally, the hero returns through resurrection or rebirth, with the elixir or special knowledge, now master of two worlds. In the first movement, I imagine our hero dancing and singing, setting off in the morning sun, with adventure awaiting. As evening approaches, a foreboding darkness descends, it’s cold, and the zombies are near. The battle comes to a climax with our hero lying unconscious unable to awaken until finally, a lone G# harkens from across the ether calling our hero back to life, to return with the secret knowledge and mastery of both worlds.
